Order Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Medications Online

There is a national shortage of Bicillin Penicillin G L-A (1, 200, 000 IU/2ml), the preferred treatment for syphilis. Please review the interim syphilis treatment guidelines for treatment recommendations during the shortage.

Durham Region Health Department provides publicly funded sexually transmitted infections (STI) medications to approved health care providers for the treatment of chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis infections.

Thank you to clinics that participated in our recent survey. Results will be shared when they are available.


All patients diagnosed with a reportable STI and their partners, regardless of their OHIP status, are eligible for the following free STI medications:

  • Azithromycin
  • Ceftriaxone
  • Doxycycline
  • Benzathine Benzylpenicillin (Lentocilin® S 1200) – temporary Bicillin® L-A alternative (same active ingredient, strength, and route of administration)
