Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine eligibility criteria for the Older Adult RSV Prevention Program:
The RSV vaccine is publicly funded for individuals that are 60 years of age and older AND meet the following criteria:
- Residents of long-term care homes, elder care lodges or retirement homes.
- Patients in hospital receiving alternate level of care (ALC) including similar settings (e.g. complex continuing care, hospital transitional programs).
- Patients receiving hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis.
- Recipients of solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
- Individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Individuals who identify as First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
- Patients with glomerulonephritis (GN) who are moderately to severely immunocompromised.
The above eligible individuals should be directed to receive the vaccine at the location where they receive specialized care (e.g. transplant patient at transplant center, dialysis patient at dialysis unit, LTCH/RH residents at their LTCH/RH facility, etc.)
If eligible individuals are unable to receive the vaccine at their place of specialized care, primary care providers may place an order for these clients.
